Incentives to Keep on Your Radar
Oregon has some of the better incentive programs in the country for EV charging infrastructure. A few to keep on your radar:
**PGE Smart Charging Program.**Portland General Electric offers a $300 rebate for enrolling in their Smart Charging program, which allows brief pauses to your charging during peak demand periods. Some participants also qualify for a free charger and installation through PGE+.
**Energy Trust of Oregon.** Depending on your project scope and eligibility, Energy Trust may offer incentives for electrical upgrades tied to energy efficiency improvements.
**Federal Tax Credits.**The federal 30C tax credit (Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit) can cover up to 30% of the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charger, up to $1,000 for residential installations. Check with your tax advisor for current eligibility requirements. These incentives can meaningfully offset the cost of both the charger and the panel upgrade if one is needed.
